What is Original Human? |
Original Human is both a skincare blog and line of serums rebelling against hype, empty promises and the idea that more is more… we embrace healthy, not perfect. And we wanted a spot to celebrate the original in each of us. This is Original Human. |
Are Original Human’s products vegan? Cruelty free? |
Yes! By focusing on simple, effective and good-for-you ingredients, all our products are vegan, cruelty-free, without any unnecessary additives. |
Do you test on animals? |
Definitely not. Ever. We almost didn’t include this question because duh… but just in case. |
Where are your serums made? |
All of our products are made in Calgary, Canada, using both local and internationally sourced natural ingredients, depending on supplies and seasonal ingredients. Check out our product pages for more info. |
Where do you source your ingredients from? |
All ingredients are sourced directly from Southern Africa or from reputable sources closer to home. And we make sure to support only those aligned with our values so many of the oils are sourced from projects that benefit and empower their local communities. |
What is the shelf life of your products? |
Our products are made in small batches to ensure freshness and effectiveness. For this reason, our products are best used as soon as possible after opening and within 6 months. But if kept in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, they can last much longer. Contact us if you have any questions! |
Where do I store Original Human products? |
Ideally, keep your serums in a cool, dark place. And make sure to screw the lid back on after each use (spills are a thing in our world…) |
When is the best time to apply your products? |
We’re going to be a little difficult and say it depends for every original human! Check the specific product page that you’re interested in for more details. If you have any detailed questions about your routine though, get in touch and we’d be happy to help. We love this stuff! |
I’m not sure which product is best for me, can you help? |
Definitely! Contact us and we’d be happy to help with suggestions and recommendations. |
I’m allergic to nuts, do I need to worry about an allergic reaction to your products? |
Most of the oils used are from seeds and generally don’t irritate those with nut allergies. We do recommend that you consult your doctor if concerned though. |

How much does shipping cost? |
$5 CAD flat rate to anywhere in Canada, free shipping over CAD $40 $5 CAD flat rate shipping to anywhere in United States, free shipping over CAD $40 $20 CAD flat rate on orders anywhere outside of Canada and US, free shipping over CAD $100 |
How long does shipping take? |
We want to get you your order as soon as possible so we ship worldwide using Canada Post and DHL. Items ordered generally ship within 2 business days, but your skin care is made in small batches so if an item is backordered it might take a little longer to ship. If this happens, we’ll let you know by email. Once your skin care has shipped, you’ll get a confirmation email with tracking info you need! Once an item leaves us shipping time frames are out of our control but to get your order into your hands (and on you) as soon as possible, we do ship as quickly as possible. |
Can I change my shipping address? |
Email us at info@originalhuman.co with your details including your order number. It helps if you include as much info as possible and ‘Urgent: Change wrong address’ in the subject line. If you do email us with a change of shipping address please keep in mind that your order may have already been dispatched. |
Things you should know: |
International orders may incur customs or import duties. Please note that you, the buyer, are 100% responsible for these charges. Unfortunately, customs delays are out of our hands so your order may take a little longer than expected when crossing borders. |
Do you accept returns? |
Due to the nature of our products, we don’t accept returns. We want you to love your skin care though, so under certain circumstances, we may offer a store credit or replacement. If you have any concerns about your order, please contact us. |
My shipment arrived damaged, what do I do? |
Please contact us! Getting damaged stuff in the mail is the worst so we’ll happily replace any damaged items within 72 hours of delivery. No returns or exchanges will be granted following this period after delivery. Send us a quick note to info@originalhuman.co with a photo of the damage and we’ll get your new item to you as soon as possible. |
